Our History

Serving Families...

Troop 2407 began around the year 2001 to meet the needs of homeschool families desiring to be involved in outdoor adventure and skill, leadership, and character development for our children along with other Christian homeschool families in the San Antonio area.  A San Antonio, TX area church has been our chartering organization since 2003.  Our girls belong to American Heritage Girls, AHGonline.org, TX-2407. After 12 years of being a BSA pack, troop, and crew, our boys were one of the first troops to charter with the new organization, Trail Life USA, TrailLifeUSA.com. These two organizations, AHG and TL-USA, both are in agreement with our statements of Faith and Mission.

Troop TX-2407 Mission Statement

We are a family program that seeks to:

Trail Life USA
Mission Statement

To guide generations of courageous young men to honor God, lead with integrity, serve others, and experience outdoor adventure.

American
Heritage Girls
Mission Statement:

Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.

The Troop meets most Monday nights at 6:30 pm. Family members attend together with their children, and after a brief gathering for a flag ceremony, prayer, scripture lesson, and announcements, each unit is dismissed to meet separately to pursue badge work, teaching younger kids, or preparing for campouts planned throughout the year.

All parents are required to be in attendance and serve the Troop in some way.

In addition, Troop campouts are also planned for all family members to attend with activities organized for each age group. Older boys and older girls camp separately using the patrol method. Younger children camp with their parents in the family camping area for that trip. For some, this is a challenge and a sacrifice to be in attendance for their children's scouting activities. However, for those parents who have stretched themselves this way, they too have grown in abilities and virtues in a surprising way!

Because of the commitment of all parents, the volunteer work in running these larger Troops side-by-side is shared and thus not a heavier burden for a few. This is one reason why our boys and girls earn a large amount of badges and rank advancements compared to many other troops.

If this sounds like a program for your family, feel free to contact us for location information and come visit on a Monday evening.

A special thanks to our Charter Organization...
