San Antonio Area Homeschool Scouts

The Troop meets most Monday nights at 6:30 pm. Family members attend together with their children, and after a brief gathering for a flag ceremony, prayer, scripture lesson, and announcements, each unit is dismissed to meet separately to pursue badge work, teaching younger kids, or preparing for campouts planned throughout the year.

All parents are required to be in attendance and serve the Troop in some way.

In addition, Troop campouts are also planned for all family members to attend with activities organized for each age group. Older boys and older girls camp separately using the patrol method. Younger children camp with their parents in the family camping area for that trip. For some, this is a challenge and a sacrifice to be in attendance for their children's scouting activities. However, for those parents who have stretched themselves this way, they too have grown in abilities and virtues in a surprising way!

Because of the commitment of all parents, the volunteer work in running these larger Troops side-by-side is shared and thus not a heavier burden for a few. This is one reason why our boys and girls earn a large amount of badges and rank advancements compared to many other troops.

If this sounds like a program for your family, feel free to contact us for location information and come visit on a Monday evening.
